In this two-day workshop, participants will learn construct a carousel, or star, book. Students will use three layers of paper in graduated sizes to create a diorama that can be displayed in the round yet close like a case-bound book. The goal for the intensive class is for students to choose a theme, explore ways to express it, and construct a carousel book that presents the theme. Students should have a rough idea of a theme for their books and bring materials with this theme in mind. Some papers and materials will also be provided.
There will be a session prior to the workshop to discuss possible themes for those who are able to attend. Students are encouraged to find as many images of carousel books as possible, whether in print or online, to spark their imaginations.
Detailed information and suggestions for materials will be sent after registration.
