New Artist’s Books at UVA

Featured presenter: Molly Schwartzburg
Curator, Albert and Shirley Small Special Collections Library

Join us for a special, one-time presentation and demonstration of new artist’s books added to the collection of the Albert and Shirley Small Special Collections Library at the University of Virginia.

Molly will share and discuss a wide range of recently published artists’ books acquired in the last three years, from unique books and fine press productions to books that cost just a few dollars. She’ll discuss how she selects artists’ books, why she thinks the ones she’s acquired are worth adding permanently to the collection, and how she expects these volumes to grow in importance over time. Some highlights will include notable artists’ books recently added to the McGehee Miniature Book Collection, cheeky finds from the “zine room” at the LA Art Book Fair, and high points such as Russell Maret’s “Specimens of Diverse Characters.”

This is a free event. To register and for further information:  Janet Eden,

Walk-ins welcome.

Note:  this session replaces the monthly Saturday Bookbinding Class originally scheduled for September 10.
