While the classes are structured to be taken in sequence exceptions will be considered.

 Class 1:“Tools, Materials & Processes” March 18
Instructor: Jane Freeman
The first class introduces basic bookbinding tools, materials (such as paper, folding, cutting, punching and basic stitching) as well as standard bookbinding processes.
Participants will complete two versions of a single-signature soft cover book and versions of a double signature book also with soft covers

Class 2: “Refining Skills and Developing Craft” March 25
Instructor:
Megan LeBoutillier
Our second class employs the portfolio structure to develop skills of board cutting, working with covering materials, glues, and pastes. Working thru the portfolio’s complexity sets the student up for the last two classes in the series

The third and fourth classes in the Bookbinding Core Skills Series builds on the skills and knowledge base acquired in our first two classes. During the two weeks, you will create a multi-signature text block suitable for binding, constructing the case and binding your book.
