We’ve been so pleased with reception for our recent project for the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death, The Bad Quarto, which has moved now into fifteen university libraries and special collections nationwide. (“A hit, a most palpable hit!” says an onlooker to Hamlet’s duel.)
Very recently, the Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington, DC, and the Newberry Library in Chicago have graced the list. Samuel Feinstein, distinguished bookbinder, purchased the unbound sheets of The Bad Quarto in the 2015 Raucous Auction…feast your eyes on his incredible one-of-a-kind leather binding of this VABC work! Watch Newberry’s thoughtful video, including a discussion of our process.
VABC projects are, uh, kind of a big deal! Look for info on our January annual members meeting…when we discuss what’s next. (Tentatively, Saturday January 21 or 28.)
If you’re interested in viewing one of the VABC’s cloth copies of The Bad Quarto, drop by Art on Ivy for Handmade Holidays. Available for purchase in cloth or even our own three-quarter leather deluxe edition…while they last. Or contact Kevin McFadden for an appointment to view the VABC’s deluxe edition.
