Handmade Harvest: From A Diary

fromadiaryFrom A Diary, Katherine Mansfield
Printed By: Richard Cappuccio
Handset in Garamond, 12 point, with a portrait of the writer letterpressed as a frontispiece, and bound in boards

The short story writer Katherine Mansfield left close to four hundred pages in theme books and on loose sheets that were eventually published. This edition, an excerpt from her diary printed to commemorate her birthday, contains just 136 words dating from just a little more than a year before her death in 1923.

Mansfield had some relationship with letterpress: Virginia Woolf helped set type for the second book published by her Hogarth Press, an edition of Mansfield’s Prelude; Mansfield’s husband, John Middleton Murry, tried his hand at letterpress but issued only two books through the short-lived Heron Press. One was an edition of Mansfield’s short story Je ne parle pas francais.
