Eager for a look at how the VABC’s printers have been looking at their Bad Quarto pages?
Then allow us a bookbinding nerd moment: printer spreads vs. reader spreads. When we look at books as Page 1, Page 2, Page 3, Page 4 … the order in which we read a publication is called reader spread. However, in books printed with gathered signatures, that is not the order in which they are printed.
This is known as imposition or printer spreads — the process of printing multiple pages on a piece of paper in such a way that when folded (and perhaps cut) they end up in proper 1, 2, 3, 4 order for readers.
So here is a sneak peek of The Bad Quarto…the only way to see it come together is to join us at the Raucous Auction, November 13 at 5:30-8PM.
