Wayzgoose–the original book arts holiday–was traditionally celebrated in late August to mark the point in the year when daylight grew scarcer and candlelight became the backdrop for autumn evenings. It signaled a break in the printing schedule to give the printer’s devils a break before the coming fall and winter.
Our wayzgoose will be celebrated on Saturday, August 29 at the Virginia Arts of the Book Center with drop-in printing from 10AM-4PM for anyone who’s taken an introductory course or beyond. If you’d like to lend a hand finishing letterpress cards for the Art on Ivy shop upstairs, you can take some home!
At 4:30PM, we grill out at the VABC. Burgers, veggie burgers, and fixings will appear. Bring something to go with that if you like–or just bring yourself!
