Photopolymer plates are created from digital files, enabling you to print virtually anything on letterpress that you can create on a computer (within specific guidelines). In this class you will learn the entire photopolymer process: how to conceptualize and design for photopolymer plates, how to prepare your digital files for plate creation and ordering, and how to print the photopolymer on the Vandercook.
Come to class with a design you would like to create. We will be printing a sample plate during the base class. If you would like to print with the plate that you create, you can also sign up for the follow up printing session to be held 3-4 weeks after.
Requirement: Letterpress experience welcomed, but not necessary, familiarity with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign (or equivalent).
Materials: None required for the base class, but if you have a laptop, feel free to bring it to work on your design. If you sign up for the followup, bring paper you would like to print your image on.
Saturday, May 29th 1–4PM
Instructor: Kristin Adolfson
Cost: $65 base class, $35 followup printing.
For members, $45/25.
