Workshop Fee: $15 members / $30 non-members (materials are included)
A workshop on making basic accordion structures, with models and instructions for designing and making a whole book, plus time to create one accordion book and, depending on your speed and enthusiasm, perhaps a second one.
The workshop will include…
- Demo and instructions. A handout will be provided on making simple accordion books, including folding the accordion body, cutting and covering cover boards, and gluing, plus ideas for cover decoration and closures. The entire process will be demonstrated, and participants can work singly or together to complete the book(s).
- Models of accordions. All participants are encouraged to bring accordions they own or have made–we’ll set up a table of models.
- Tools and supplies. A list will be sent beforehand explaining what materials and tools will be provided and what each participant needs to bring. Participants are encouraged to bring any special papers or other materials they want to use in their books; the provided materials will be basic, so bring specialty papers and covers if you want to use them instead. Also, if you are willing to “trade and share,” please bring your odds and ends to exchange with others.
We’re looking forward to seeing everyone interested in Bookmaking,
